Police Operation Temporarily Closes Malko Turnovo Border Crossing

An operation conducted by the directorate for combatting organized crime closed Malko Turnovo border check point in the morning on 19^th of October. According to unconfirmed information, the night and day shift officers have been detained. A long queue of buses and cars was formed at the barrier.

Tour operators are complaining that they have no information on when the checkpoint will be re-opened for traffic and are concerned that pre-paid excursions to Kirklareli and Istanbul might fail.

Border policemen from Poland are currently on shift and refuse to give information or stand in front of the TV cameras. BNT team is on site and monitors the development of the operation.
