Bulgarian customs officials detained 4.3 kg of cocaine at Sofia Airport on 27th of September. The drug was found in the luggage of a Polish national arriving from Santiago, Chili.
The passenger was selected for a check on the basis of risk analysis. In the course of the customs examination, the officials found a stereo speaker among his personal belongings, where the drugs were concealed. It was identified that the speaker had been manipulated, with double walls built in and a cavity, where rectangular packages of cocaine were identified.
In operational and search actions on the territory of Sofia, the authorities detained the alleged recipients of the package – a citizen of Nigeria and a Bulgarian.
Pre-court proceedings have been initiated. The investigation is led by Sofia Prosecutor’s Office.
If sold in the streets such amount of drug would bring an income of 2.5 million BGN.
