Political reactions after “There is Such a People” returned the mandate to form a government

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev on April 28 handed over a mandate to form a government to "There is such a people" party, which immediately returned it with the argument that it was not normal for them to form an unprincipled government.

Political reactions followed.

"Absolute irresponsibility towards the state. He (referring to Slavi Trifonov, the leader of “There is Such a People”) is probably making some calculations for his political project, but this does not bring anything good for Bulgaria," commented Desislava Atanasova, chairwoman of the GERB-UDF PG.

"We have expressed support for several important things, which an interim government, not with a four-year term, could have done. There were things that could have been done to continue the dismantling of Borissov model. It is currently standing. So they missed a chance, " the chair of the parliamentary group of BSP for Bulgaria, Kornelia Ninova, said.

"With the expiration of the two mandates, we are now officially in a political crisis. Let's see how the consultations with the President will go. I hope that some formula can be found," the chairman of "Democratic Bulgaria" PG, Hristo Ivanov, said.

"The third mandate is possible only if there is an understanding, a consensus between the parties of the protests. If there is no such understanding, regardless of whether the mandate would be handed over to “Democratic Bulgaria”, it cannot be realized," the chairwoman of "Rise up! Thugs out!" Maya Manolova said.
