The Director of the National History Museum, Bozhidar Dimitrov, has received a letter from Apostolic Nuncio to Bulgaria Anselmo Pecorari which says that Pope Francis provides 5,000 euro for the restoration works on the Great Basilica in Pliska (he capital of the First Bulgarian Empire (632/680-1018 AD) between 680 and 893 AD), the National History Museum said on 26th of July.
"This contribution is part of the celebration of 1150 years since the first relations between the Pope and the Bulgarian empire," the letter says as quoted in the announcement.
