Preparations are underway to move to the second phase of the vaccination plan. It covers teachers and nursing homes. 15,000 residents and 11,000 staff have the right to be vaccinated. How many of them are willing to do it?

By the end of this week, it should be clear exactly how many vaccines will be needed for nursing homes and how many actually want to be vaccinated. This is needed in order to avoid throwing away vaccine vials that will not be used on time. Immunization is expected to begin once sufficient vaccines have been provided to the frontline medical specialists.

Gospodinka Krasteva, a resident of a nursing home in Bourgas, says she has not been out since March. She believes that only the vaccine can restore her freedom. She says she was the first person in the home who has signed up for the vaccine.

"I haven't seen my children, my grandchildren for two years, they are not here, maybe I'll travel, but I have to be healthy, I want to live longer," said Gospodinka.

Nearly 80% of the residents in the home in Bourgas have asked to be vaccinated.

Lists are being prepared in care and nursing homes across the country. They will be provided to the Regional Health Inspectorates. The vaccination itself will be carried out with the help of mobile teams, which according to the submitted list will come with the required number of doses of the vaccine. In the capital, each of the four teams will include a doctor, a nurse and two municipal employees.

The idea of a mobile team is to go to the home and give a vaccine to everyone who wants to be vaccinated. there will be a backup team that will deliver vaccines in case they are not enough, but I guess in a day, at the latest in two days, all nursing homes will be will be served," said Krassimir Dimitrov - Director of "Emergency Aid and Prevention" at Sofia Municipality.

Petar Gyoshev from Nadezhda nursing home in Sofia says he has not yet made a definite decision, although he has already been explained about the vaccine several times.

Albena Atanasova, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, commented that this is something new for the people and most say they need time to think before they decide. He adds that more and more people make the decision to get vaccinated.

In Rousse, 700 people are accommodated in social institutions. According to the municipality, the situation with those who want a vaccine is very dynamic.

Katya Petrova, director of the Health and Social Affairs Directorate in Rousse Municipality, told the BNT team that yesterday there were only 11 applicants, and later there were 170 residents who expressed a desire to be vaccinated.

Most of those who want the vaccine are from Vazrazhdane home, where there was an outbreak of COVID-19 in the summer. Most of them agree to be vaccinated because they are worried about getting sick. Vaccination in care and nursing homes is expected to begin as soon as possible, within two weeks.
