"Bulgaria is committed to producing projectiles for the needs of our partners, if they request it, not for Ukraine", President Radev said ahead of the European Council meeting that starts today, March 23, in Brussels.
The Head of State specified that if Bulgaria gives projectiles to a country and it turns out that they go to Ukraine, it is the responsibility of that country. "It is obliged to let us know what it wants these projectiles for as the end user," he said.
Asked if a country asked us for projectiles, would we set conditions, he said, "Of course we would set conditions."
"We will work with the European Commission for more investment in our defence industry, but Bulgaria and 9 other ЕU countries are not participating in the joint procurement of ammunition for Ukraine. We are only committing to producing projectiles for the needs of our partners if they request it, but not for Ukraine," Radev said.
