President Radev: No SANS report on Russian diplomats has been received at the Presidency

The Presidency has not received a report of the State Agency for National Security (SANS) on the expulsion of 70 Russian diplomats, the Head of State Rumen Radev said on June 30.

Head of State Rumen Radev explained step by step how the Presidency acted in order to get information about the decision to expel 70 Russian diplomats.

The presidential institution has not received a report from SANS on the subject. At the Security Council of the Council of Ministers, held on 9 June, where a representative of the presidential institution participated, this topic was not on the previously announced agenda, President Rumen Radev said.
The Presidency also sent a letter to the Council of Ministers asking about the decisions taken at the security council.

The reply was - there is no decision voted, adopted at this council. This clearly shows that apparently the decisions in the government are taken by some parallel mechanism, far from the institutional decision-making path, added President Rumen Radev.

He stressed that a Consultative Council for National Security, which the Bulgarian Socialist Party insists on, cannot overrule a decision already taken by the government.

Let me remind you that the body that controls the Council of Ministers is the Bulgarian Parliament. I also obviously need to remind that even if it is outgoing, the government is responsible for its actions, he said.

He is adamant that the consequences of this action could be extremely serious, especially for our diplomatic mission in Moscow. But the important thing is that this is not the way to make decisions in the executive on such an important issue. The responsibility lies entirely with the executive branch, no matter that it is resigning, Radev added.
