Bulgaria’s Prosecutor’s office demanded 10 years imprisonment for the main shareholder of CSKA football club, Alexander Tomov. The sentence will be pronounced tomorrow, 17th of February.
The court case started 7 years ago when Tomov was President of the CSKA football club and a Chairperson of the Management Board of Kremikovtsi steel plant. He was charged with siphoning off over 36 million BGN from the steel plant and from the football club.
Three other individuals from the management of CSKA and Kremikovtsi were charged with accusations: Alexander Garibov, Ivan Ivanov and Bozhko Bonev.
On 16th of February, the prosecution demanded 10 years imprisonment for each of them, confiscation of property, and to be prohibited from holding management positions.
In 2011, when the court case was considered for the first time, Alexander Tomov and Ivan Ivaniov were each sentenced 9 years imprisonment, whilst Alexandar Garibov and Bozhko Bonev were acquitted. However, the second instance court cancelled the sentence and returned the case to the first instance court for a new consideration, because of contradictions in interpretation of the evidence.
