Record high number of Bulgarians abroad have submitted applications to vote in the forthcoming presidential elections on 6th of November, Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission said on 13th of October, as quoted by BTA.

So far, the applications for voting abroad are 34,090. The largest number is in the UK (7,106), followed by Turkey (6,587) Germany (3,508) and the USA (2,933).

15th of October is the deadline for the CEC to determine the places of polling stations abroad.

Asked whether it is possible to open more polling stations abroad than the maximum 35 allowed by the Electoral Code, in countries where a larger number of voting applications have been filed, the CEC Spokespersons said that CEC was considering the matter and would have a decision by 15th of October.

By 16th of October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has to summarize the data from the lists. On 18th of October, the heads of diplomatic and consular missions have to set up the polling stations and publish the voters’ lists, CEC’s spokesperson Andreev said.
