The roads in Bulgaria are passable in winter conditions, Road Infrastructure agency said on 29th of December. Traffic restrictions are place in Shipka pass due to thick fog.
TIR lorry with Polish registration crashed into the guardrail of the viaduct "Bebresh" of "Hemus" highway late last night. The cab of the lorry was hanging off the viaduct, above 100 meters height, for a few hours. The driver was not injured but was in shock.
Because of the stormy wind, snowdrifts and limited visibility, the road section from the village of Hadzhidimitrovo to the start of Shipka pass is temporarily closed for traffic. The vehicles are diverted by a bypass route through the passage "Republic". Road Infrastructure Agency has advised drivers who travel through Rozhen pass to obligatory use chains and freight vehicles to move without trailers.
Restrictions are placed for movement of freight vehicles with trailers through Prevala pass due to heavy snowfall.
