Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General, Ivan Geshev, announced on December 4 that the Prosecutor's office has not seen any evidence that the Bulgarian border can be crossed for 50 euros, as stated by Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, in connection with the Netherland's decision to block Bulgaria’s membership of Schengen.
The Netherlands will block Bulgaria's accession to Schengen
The Prosecutor's office will request, under international legal assistance, that the Netherlands provide evidence that it is possible to enter Bulgaria from Turkey on payment of 50 euros.
"If our law enforcement partners in the Netherlands have such evidence, I expect it to be provided to us under international legal assistance, in compliance with the rule of law," he said.
Bulgaria is a state governed under the rule of law, part of the European Union and as such respects and defends European values, Geshev added.
