The outgoing Minister of Education Meglena Kuneva issued an order to extend school holidays for all students in Bulgaria until Friday, 9th of January, because of the flu epidemics in many districts of the country and the expected cold weather at the weekend.
Meanwhile, the health authorities said that the flu activity was increasing. Flu epidemics is expected to be declared for the districts of Pazardzhik and Blagoevgrad where the number of flu cases has significantly increased in the recent days.
Flu epidemics was declared on 3rd of January in the districts of Montana, Stara Zagora and Rousse and previously in Plovdiv, Haskovo, Gabrovo and Pernik. Restrictions are in place in hospitals as regards surgeries, visitors and consultations for children and pregnant women.
