A rare phenomenon can be seen at the lagoons near the Port and Sarafovo Fishing Port in the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal city of Bourgas. The reason for the ice formation is the lower salinity of the water.
The phenomenon has occurred only in those two sheltered ports and has nothing to do with the freezing of the sea in 1954.
At the moment, the temperature of the water in Bourgas bay is +4 degrees per Celsius. Yachts and small ships anchored in those areas are beautifully covered in icicles and snow.
