No new restrictive measures are planned in Sofia in relation to the spread of the coronavirus. An extension of the current restrictions by further two weeks will be discussed at a meeting of the Sofia Crisis Management Staff, the mayor of the capital Yordanka Fandakova said on November 11.
"Today, I will propose to the Operational Headquarters for the Fight against Coronavirus that high school students in Sofia remain on online learning for two more weeks. After that, however, the gradual return of students to in-person attendance classes should begin," the mayor said. Going online from the point of view of education is undesirable, but it is done to avoid children gathering in groups, Fandakova explained
The mayor of Sofia will also propose that the students from 5th to 7th grade also switch to distance learning. Distance learning for primary school and kindergartens, is not yet considered.
We will recommend the universities to continue the online training. As well as the employees to organize so that there is no gathering in the offices. Everyone who can work online should continue their work like this," said Yordanka Fandakova.
