Sofia City Court ruled to extradite the French citizen Mourad Hamyd to France. The decision of the court is final and is not subject to appeal, the court said on 16th of August.
During a court hearing on 10th of August, Hamyd asked to be immediately extradited to France. He had the right to withdraw his request within three days, but did not withdraw it.
Mourad Hamyd, the 20-year-old brother-in-law of one of the participants in the terrorist attack at the Paris headquarters of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, was arrested in Bulgaria on 29th of July 2016. He was subject to a European arrest warrant issued by the French authorities.
The Prosecutor-General’s office said on 8th of August that he represented a threat to Bulgaria’s national security.
