Sofia has its first Google certified educator

Sofia has its first Google certified teacher. Adi Konedareva from the 2nd English Language School "Thomas Jefferson" received recognition from the digital’s world giant, Sofia Municipality announced on November 11.

Google Certified Trainers help other teachers master the tools in the digital cloud environment by enabling them to make their lessons more effective, get better results, and develop their leadership skills.

To maintain their status, teachers must conduct at least 12 trainings per year and share ideas and resources with the Google Trainers community.

Adi Konedareva earned the recognition only two weeks after the 2nd English Language School "Thomas Jefferson" was announced the first in the capital and second in Central and Eastern Europe Google reference school at an online event with the participation of Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia, Gencho Kerezov, Deputy Mayor for Digitalization, Innovation and Economic Development of Sofia Municipality, Mark Sans Lopez, Director of Education at Google for Southern, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Dr. Vanya Kastreva, Head of Regional Department of Education - Sofia-city and others.

Second English Language School is one of the 16 schools in Sofia that are included in the pilot programme, initiated by ​​Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, for "School in the Cloud", which the municipality finances and implements together with the Regional Department of Education - Sofia and "Centre for Creative Learning".

“School in the Cloud” is developing the use of digital technologies in education. This is also the first municipal programme for implementation of the "One to One" (1:1) model in municipal schools. The goal is to develop it successfully and to apply it in more schools, which will be a way to their digital transformation.
