Тhe first plenary sitting of Bulgaria’s Parliament after the summer recess will be held on 1st of September. “The road map of the sitting is clear - the forthcoming Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU will be in the focus of the Parliament,“ Dimitar Glavchev, the Speaker of Parliament, told BNT morning programme on 31st of August while commenting on the priorities of the upcoming parliamentary session.

He explained that there will be events in the parliamentary committees in connection with the presidency, and in November the President of the EP, Antonio Tajani, will visit Bulgaria.

Bulgarian foreign policy has been extremely active in the recent months. Everyone recognizes the achievements in this area, said Glavchev.

When asked about the election of Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) members from the parliamentary quota, the Speaker of the National Assembly stated that for the first time the procedure is "so transparent and open".

The majority is easily achieved when there are principled positions. Here the principles should be high professionalism of the candidates and high ethical qualities, Glavchev said.

In his words, Parliament will begin work on anti-corruption legislation on its first working day by holding apublic debate organised by the Committe on Legal affairs and the Ministry of Justice.
