The new tourist season in Bulgaria will be opened in early May. However, accommodation and meals will have to comply with strict measures. Our country will allow tourists, who have been vaccinated against covid-19, who have antibodies or a negative PCR test. This became clear during the visit of the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Health and Tourism to Rozhen on March 15.
"The tourism industry should start preparing for the season, and tourists should be informed under what conditions they will visit our country," said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
All anti-epidemic measures in the places for accommodation and meals, which will be announced tomorrow, have been coordinated with the Ministry of Health, announced the Deputy Prime Minister, Mariana Nikolova.
The Minister of Health, Kostadin Angelov, pointed out that, green corridors will be provided for the tourists who want to visit Bulgaria. According to him, the most important thing is the participation of our country in the so-called electronic green travel certificate, which guarantees that every tourist has three options, either to be vaccinated, or to have had the disease and to have antibodies, or to present a negative PCR test.
We will give this opportunity to all tourists and thus facilitate the travel of anyone who wants to visit our country - the motto is choose Bulgaria for a safe holiday, added Prof. Angelov.
PM also commented on the letter, in which he and four other European leaders called for a discussion at European level rearding the supply of Coovid-19 vaccines and reiterated that the fairest solution for the distribution of vaccines is based on the percentage of population in each member state.
The European Commission has given us the approved vaccines and we have ordered them. Except Moderna, which abides by the contract, other companies do not abide the contracts. We do not want anything else from the EC, except to give us what we have agreed, Borissov said.
According to him, Bulgaria has always complied with European rules and acted according to them.
Borissov expressed hope that the European Commission would take the necessary measures. He reiterated that our country has signed a contract for the supply of all vaccines approved by Europe and that if the Russian vaccine is approved by the European Medicines Agency, we will order from it.
However, tourists vaccinated with the Russian vaccine will be allowed in our country through the future green corridors after May 1, it became clear from the words of the Prime Minister.
The vaccination with Astra Zeneca in Bulgaria will be possible to resume on Thursday at the earliest, if the European Medicines Agency issues an opinion on Wednesday.
Doses of the recently approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine are also expected in April.
