On 15th of August, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior started a procedure for the appointment of Commissioner Svetlan Kichikov as the Director of Chief Directorate “Border Police”.
Svetlan Kichikov was born in 1967 in the Black Sea major port and coastal city of Bourgas. He graduated from the Naval Academy “Nikola Vaptsarov” in the Black Sea coastal city of Varna and has a qualification in "Navigation for the naval fleet."
He has additional qualifications and underwent various training courses.
His professional experience in the Interior Ministry began in 1992 when he was appointed a commander of a border police ship. He held various positions in the Regional Border Service in Bourgas. On 30th March, 2015 he was appointed as chief of the base “Border Police ships” - Sozopol
Svetlan Kichikov is the commander of the border police ship "Obzor, which earlier this year successfully participated in the Frontex operation "Poseidon” at the Greek-Turkish sea border.
