Taxi drivers staged a national protest in Sofia on December 15. The assembly point was in front of St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral. Later they will go to the municipality.
The main demand of the protesters is an increase in transportation tariffs. The industry insists on an initial tariff of BGN 2.10; BGN 1.30 rate for passenger transport during the day and BGN 1.50 rate during the night.
They also demand the abolition of the patent tax for the whole of 2021; making taxi transport equal with the public transport; the annual technical inspection to be valid for 12 months. They also insist that the Municipality schedule an extraordinary meeting today to discuss their demands.
