The Bulgarian baby Nikolai, who was born on 26th of July on board of a Lufthansa aircraftth of July on board of a Lufthansa aircraft, has now been issued a birth certificate. It is a unique birth certificate for Bulgaria. It was originally drawn up at the Bulgarian Embassy in London and then sent to the town of Pazardzhik (South Bulgaria) where the original Birth Certificate was issued.
Unlike the birth certificates of children born in Bulgaria or abroad, Nikolai's birth certificate does not include a name of a town or city, a municipality or an area.
In the filed for place of birth, it says: International Air Space, coordinates 49 degrees to the north, 21 degrees west, Lufthansa airplane.
An official from the directorate for civil registration explains that there was a little problem while the data was filed in the certificate, because their software did not allow more than 30 characters in the place of birth field. Therefore, some abbreviations were used in order to fit in the space.
Nikolai and his parents currently live in the town of Pazardzhik. But the family avoids contact with the media.
