The Bulgarian U.N. aid workers held captive since January 26 by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-North) in the southern part of the Republic of Sudan have been released.
They are in a safe place in the Republic of South Sudan with a team of the UN World Food Programme, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on 1st of February.
The Foreign Ministry thanked the UN WFP and its field teams in South Sudan, and the office of the Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, and also expressed gratitude for the constructive role of the Government of Sudan in resolving the situation with the Bulgarian citizens.
