The forest fire in the area of the villages of Knyazhevo and Srem, South Bulgarian district of Haskovo, is still burning on 18th of August
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister, who visited the area on 17th of August, provided assistance for suppressing the outbreaks and sent a 60 tonne bulldozer. The machine ran through slopes to prevent the fire from spreading to the villages of Knyazhevo and Srem..
For the time being, there is no risk for the residents and the villages. Firefighters, officials from the forest administrations, municipality of topolovgrad and volunteers are battling the blaze.
The air temperatures remain high, it is dry and the wind is strong which creates conditions for potential outbreaks and spread of wildfires.
