The Executive Director of the Bulgarian State Railways Company (BDZ), Vladimir Vladimirov, the Financial Director Philip Alexiev and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BDZ Holding Velik Zanchev, who is Deputy Minister of Transport, resigned on 8th of November.
The resignations were at the request of the Transport Minister Rossen Zhelyazkov, he announced at an extraordinary briefing. According to him, the reason is poor communication and teamwork in the Board of Directors of BDZ. Zhelyazkov said that the audit he has assigned should show the state of the trains, public procurement in the company and the timetable for the movement of trains. This year, the state has twice financially helped BDZ with over BGN 194 million to pay off its creditors in conditions of restrained accounts. Zhelyazkov said by the next Wednesday he would decide whether to accept the resignations.
