The New Year Music Festival at the National Palace of Culture starts on 13 December.
The programme features a total of 13 events. As part of the tradition, the culmination of the festival is the big New Year's concert under the baton of Emil Tabakov. This year's soloist is the legendary Bulgarian violinist Mincho Minchev.
The festival will open with the musical "Callas and Onassis" by Christos Papageorgiou. The show is a title from the repertoire of Varna Opera. The composer Christos Papageorgiou was in Sofia and said that he is excited that his work will be shown to the Sofia audience.
"Everybody is expecting something great and I think they will find it in Callas and Onassis. It has great choreography, a fantastic orchestra and a fantastic maestro. I think opening the festival with 'Callas and Onassis' is a very good decision," said Christos Papageorgiou.
