Measles cases in Bulgaria have increased to 92. The disease spread to the districts of Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and Sofia-city. An examination in a German laboratory has shown that the strain circulating in Bulgaria is imported from Italy or Germany. This was announced by Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev, Head of the National Centre for Contagious and Parasitic Diseases, for the Bulgarian National Television on 7th of March.
Samples of 21 measles patients from Razlog and Sofia were sent to a German laboratory. The results confirmed the suspicions of the health authorities that the strain circulating in Bulgaria is different from the one imported in 2017 from Ukraine.
According to Kantardzhiev, 38% of the infected with measles are children who have not reached the age for vaccination.
Vaccines are not dangerous, says the allergy consultants Bogdan Petrunov.
Acad. Bogdan Petrutov, allergologist and immunologist: This is about introducing products into the human body that powerfully boost the defences. Without vaccines, we, in fact, as a result of the large part of the infectious diseases that exist, we will simply die.
The National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases reported that for the moment there are no complications for the measles infected in Bulgaria.
