The District Court in the town of Haskovo, South Bulgaria, ruled on 8th of October that the three Dutch persons, who were arrested on alleged involvement in terrorism, would remain in custody pending extradition hearing.
The two men, 18 and 22 year old and a 17 year old woman, Shaima Kalouaa, were detained on Monday, 5th of October, trying to cross Bulgaria’s Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint with Turkey.
The three Dutch citizens were wanted on European Arrest Warrants issued by their home country for participation in a terrorist organization. According to the arrest warrant, they were travelling to Syria to join Islamic State.
The signal for the two teenagers was submitted by their parents. According to Dutch magistrates, the three young people maintained contacts with Islamic radicalists and plotted killings.
