One of the largest tour operators in Bulgaria, Alfatour, filed for insolvency on 13th of December leaving 500 Bulgarian holidaymakers with ruined Christmas and New year plans.
Due to the situation, Bulgaria’s Minister of Tourism, Nikolina Angelkova, convened an urgent meeting with the insurance company of the insolvent tour operator.
Speaking for BNT, she assured that all customers who had purchased holiday packages would get their money back, specifying that the overall amount was 700,000 BGN. In order to get the money back, the customers need to contact the insurer Euroins and present contracts for tourist services or payment orders or cash receipts.
Minister Angelkova added that the number of Bulgarians currently on holiday abroad was being clarified, as well as the way they would come back to the country.
