A multiple-vehicle accident halted the traffic between the seaside towns of Sozopol and Bourgas, in the region of Chernomorets, at noon on 7th of August. The accident involved 5 cars. There are no casualties. 5km long queue of vehicles was formed in the lane in direction to Bourgas.
The accident happened because of a car that attempted a surprising overtaking and got in the way of another vehicle.
A 40-year-old Russian woman with her son were travelling in one of the cars involved in the crash. At the sudden stop, the woman hit her head in the windshield and suffered an injury. She was taken to the Emergency Department in a hospital in Bourgas together with the child, who was not injured. Their condition is not life threatening.
The multi-car crash caused difficulties to the traffic towards Bourgas.
According to traffic police inspectors, the cause of the accident was inadequate speed and non-observance of distance.
