40 illegal migrants were detained by the police in Bourgas on 15th of August. The migrants were carried in two luxurious four wheel drives.
They were immediately transported to the police station, where some water was provided for them. The migrants were interviewed with the help of an interpreter. They did not have ID documents and claimed they were from Iraq. The luxurious four wheel drives have Sofia registration but the alleged traffickers were from Bourgas.
The detention of this group of migrants takes place after the start of a specialized police operation, in which mobile teams carry out random checks at various places.
Tsvetelina Randeva, the spokesperson of Bourgas district directorate of the ministry of interior said that two men were arrested ion suspicions of people trafficking and fast police proceedings were initiated against them under art. 281 of the Penal Code. The 40 migrants will be interviewed by officials of Migration directorate and then accommodated in specialized centres, she added.
