Bulgaria’s Head of State Rumen Radev on October 31 held consultations with representatives of “We Continue the Change” group. According to the Constitution, the President holds cabinet-forming consultations with the representatives of the parliamentary groups in the newly elected 48th Parliament.
Immediately after the meeting with the President, Kiril Petkov, chairman of “We Continue the Change”, said:
"Our first priority is to talk about the 16 policies so that the solutions for the people at this moment come to the fore. We will be the most predictable opposition behind the mandate holder, which will be GERB. They will have the luxury of knowing on which policies we will support a government and on which policies we will not. Our pre-election promises will be kept and the Bulgarian citizens must get used to the fact that parties must keep their promises. That is why we have categorically said that the first mandate will not be supported."
Assen Vassilev added that it is extremely important that the 16 policies are implemented.
“We called on the President that the government should fulfil its obligation regarding the Public Finance Act and that a budget should be submitted to the National Assembly," Vassilev clarified.
At the beginning of the talks, the President asked the representatives of “We Continue the Change” around what ideas they would seek unity and support from whom, if it came to a second mandate, which would be handed over to them. We will be guided entirely by two principles in our decision-making, Kiril Petkov replied.
"The first is to be able to solve as many real problems as possible and we have stated 16 policies in four areas - extending support to Bulgarian families. We see raising the minimum wage as a huge importance because these are the families that are most vulnerable to inflation. We are continuing with the policy to support pensioners, tax breaks for young families, and we have a very serious programme for business."
