Workers staged a protest on 5th of September over employers who delayed or did not pay wages. The protesters demand stricter sanctions for that, as well as a ban on transferring or sale of companies that owe payment of wages to workers.
The protest, which was held outside the building of the Parliament, gathered dozens of people from a large supermarket and a telecommunications company.
Some of the protesting workers say they have been waiting to get paid for years. They say they refereed the issue to various institutions, including the Natuional Socfial Security institute, the Revenue agency, the Labour Inspectotrate, national ombudsman. Lots of violations were identified as a result of checks and recommendations were given , but despite that the issue with delayed wages remained.
The
protesting workers demanded stricter sanctions and tightening control
over the businesses.
There are already a number of legislative changes to be tabled in Parliament at
second reading. They are expected to be adopted in late September or early October.
