According to data of the World Health Organization, more than 12 million people in world are diagnosed with cancer every year, and more than half of them die from the disease.
In the recent 10 years, the cancer rates in Bulgaria have increased. The incidence of breast cancer in women and lung cancers in men is the highest. Experts are convinced that about 40% of oncological diseases can be cured as long as they are diagnosed early.
On 4th of February, the University Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Oncological Diseases launched the campaign "I am and I will be". It is an initiative of the World Health Organization.
In 2018, 18 million new cases of cancer have been reported worldwide. 9 million people have died, said Prof. Zdravka Valerianova, director of the National Cancer Registry.
