“Sunny Day” is among the 11 Bulgarian beaches that will be awarded the Blue Flag certificate for 2017.
Eight other beaches from Bulgaria’s Black South Coast will receive the award which is widely considered a high standard for the quality of bathing water, environmental education and information, safety, facilities and services.
After a two year period of interruption, in 2017, Albena beach will again be awarded the certificate. A new participant in the initiative is the White Lagoon beach in Kavarna, which participated for the first time. The yacht port “Marina Dinevi” will also be awarded.
The Blue Flag is a certification by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that a beach, marina or sustainable boating tourism operator meets its stringent standards.
The Blue Flag programme has been operating in Europe since 1987 and in areas outside of Europe since 2001, when South Africa joined. Today, Blue Flag has become a truly global programme with an ever-increasing number of countries participating in the programme.
