On the 17th evening of protests, on July 25, the protesters’ demands remained unchanged: resignation of the government and the Chief Prosecutor; reforms in the judicial system.
The organisers of the protests called for mass civil disobedience.
In addition to the resignations protesters demand electronic voting and constitutional changes.
This evening the protesters were throwing tomatoes and rolls of toilet paper at the building of the Council of Ministers.
No one has been detained during yesterday's protests, Sofia’s Directorate of the Ministry of Interior said. During the quail egg attack on the Council of Ministers building, a police officer was hit in the eye.
The biggest tension last night was in the area of BNT, where protesters blocked the area around the public service broadcaster. Daniela Daritkova, parliamentary leader of the ruling GERB party, and opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Kornelia Ninova appeared on the live BNT current affairs programme “Panorama” and after the end of the show their way out of the BNT building was blocked by protesters who booed and threw objects at them.
Protesters turned over rubbish bins to block San Stefano Street and stop Daritkova. They blocked the way of her car.
The police explained that they had to intervene because of the verbal aggression against Daritkova and Ninova.
According to them, the protesters endangered the lives and health of the two women.
