Results from a survey carried out by “Alpha Research” polling agency shows that nearly 77% of the Bulgarian voters are aware that the voting at the forthcoming presidential elections is compulsory.
Although, according to the majority of the people this will not influence their decision to participate in the vote.
The results of the survey show that more than 53% of the voters already know about the new option on the ballot paper: the checkbox “I do not support anyone”.
About 10 of 100 who decided to participate in the vote intend to fill in the box “I do not support anyone”. Their profile repeats the profile of those who usually do not vote in elections.
The survey was conducted at the request of the Institute for Public Environment Development in the period 19-24th of October 2016.
