Sofia (city) records the highest average salary at 3,474 leva, nearly 25% above the national average.
The average monthly salary in Bulgaria for the third quarter of the year stands at 2,549 leva. This represents a 12% increase compared with the same quarter of 2024. The figures come from the Labour and Social Policy Ministry’s bulletin on incomes and living standards.
Sofia (city) records the highest average salary at 3,474 leva – nearly 25% above the national average. The largest annual growth in average pay during the third quarter was reported in Targovishte (19.6%), Silistra (18.7%) and Smolyan (17.2%).
Data from the bulletin show that total household income for the period reached 6,988 leva, an increase of 4.4% compared with a year earlier.
In eight economic sectors, average salaries are above the national level, and these sectors employ around one-third of all workers. The highest wages are in:
– Information and creative industries, and telecommunications (5,512 leva);
– Financial and insurance activities (3,716 leva);
– Production and distribution of electricity, heat and gaseous fuels (3,539 leva);
– Professional activities and scientific research (3,460 leva);
– Public administration (3,088 leva);
– Mining and quarrying (3,071 leva);
– Education (2,780 leva);
– Human health and social work (2,584 leva).
