BNT Continues the Campaign “Stop, Save the Child!”

The campaign is realised with the support of various institutions throughout the country. Since the start of the campaign, dozens of new crosswalks have been created and over 120 were illuminated. More than 80 warning signs with the logo of the campaign were installed in the cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Blagoevgrad, Rousse, Stara Zagora, Sopot, Sozopol, Lovech, Hissarya. More warnings are still to be placed in populated areas.

For the sixth consecutive year, BNT teaches children about road safety. This year, besides the children from the National Children’s Palace, there will be also children from the Western regions, Diabetes Association from Peshtera, Kazanlak, Stara Zagora and from all over Bulgaria - ages 10-17. All of them will participate in the Camp at Ravda during the month of August.

Simeon Simov, Secretary of the Council for Children's Travel Safety in Sofia District, stressed that the main objective of the traffic safety council is to show the children the importance of understanding the road and to recognize the dangers that are lurking there. This year, for 17 consecutive days, a traditional camp quiz will be organized to provoke the children through entertaining and interesting activities to recall the most important rules of conduct on the road. He also said that one of the main objectives of this year’s camp is it to emphasize the fact that no one is allowed to drive a car without a driving license and especially not after the consumption of alcohol or drugs. Older participants need to remember these rules very well so that tragic cases can be avoided in the future.
