After Bulgaria’s Parliament voted the third Boyko Borissov cabinet into office on 4th of May, in front of journalists he responded to criticism by the opposition.
“The only thing that interests me is the expectations of the people. Democracy is this – to stand in as a candidate in elections and whoever wins the elections – forms a government,” Borissov said.
He added that the Bulgarian Socialist Party did not have the right to say that GERB was fighting for power, because by resigning, he gave them the whole power on a platter. “What power are they talking about? We have clearly said with whom we can and cannot govern. In this situation, there were two options. New early parliamentary elections in a few months,” according to Borissov.
The PM also addressed his colleagues from the Movement for rights and Freedoms, saying that during all the years of his governenace, he had good, even privileged attitude towards the Bulgarian muslims in the ethnic-mixed areas.
"I can tell them to be calm, because more important than governancne is ethnic peace, I will keep it intact, I have put myself in this situation to either govern this way with the United Patriots or severe political instability in Bulgaria. If we must serve the state, we must serve now, despite the difficulties," Borisov noted.
