The 19th of May Parliamentary control in Bulgaria’s National Assembly was marked by a scandal.
Accusations of fascism were heard from the rostrum of the plenary hall.
The centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) urged the United Patriots Co-Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov to resign because of comments he claimed he never said (a comment about Nazi death camp Buchenwald).
The scandal broke out after the BSP leader Kornelia Ninova read a declaration saying that this Parliament was not working. She said that a total of six bills had been submitted to the 44th National Assembly, four of which by the Bulgarian Socialist Party. She also added that there were controversial appointments in Borssov’s 3 cabinet, including the Deputy Minister of Regional Development who had to resign two days after his appouintment to the post because of a scandal with a photo of him giving Nazi salute. Ninova again urged for the resignation of the Deputy PM Valrui Simeonov.
The centre-right GERB said that BSP right from the start had undertaken a negative campaign against Borissov’s cabinet. Volen Siderov, the leader of Ataka (one of the constituent parties of the United Patriots alliance, part of the governing coalition) said that the attacks against Valeri Simeonov were manipulations and lies.
