Bulgaria is among the countries in the European Union with the lowest government debt, calculated as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, Eurostat data showed on 21st of October.
Eurostat however specified that the main reason was the adjustment of VAT revenues in the country.
Only Estonia and Luxembourg have less debt than Bulgaria. The EU country with the highest ratio of government debt to GDP remains Greece, followed by Italy, Portugal and Cyprus.
