Bulgaria marks the International Children’s Day with various initiatives across the country. Over 60 cultural and educational initiatives for children are included in this year's edition of the Children's Fair in Sofia...
The children will be able to become explorers at the National Museum of Natural History, the Botanical Gardens of the University in Sofia, the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore with the Ethnographic Museum and Sofia City Art Gallery. A special fun game for Sofia was created for the event, through which the children will be able to learn many interesting things about the capital.
There are workshops on stained glass painting, architecture, sand drawings, and pottery.
The little visitors will have the opportunity to discover the world of science - physics and chemistry, with a specially designed atelier in which experiments will be done all day long.
The programme also includes dances, yoga, tennis, football, chess.
The organizers have also prepared an attractive programme of musical and theatrical performances, dances and games for the youngest.
As part of the traditiona, a real fire engine will be displayed. Children will have the opportunity to get on it and take on the role of firefighters.
The main purpose of the Children's Fair is to introduce children to the world of art and culture by organizing creative art workshops both in the open and in cultural institutions.

International
Children's Day is observed on 1st of June. The World
Conference for the Well-being of Children in Geneva, Switzerland, proclaimed 1st of June to be
International Children's Day in
1925. Many countries
from the former socialist camp decided to declare the day as Children's Day to draw
attention to children's issues. In
Bulgaria the holiday was recognised after 1949 when Moscow announced that 1st
of June will be International Day for Protection of Children. After the change of the political system in
the former socialist camp countries, the holiday remained in place.
