BULGARIAN AUTHORITIES DETAINED A MAN TRANSPORTING MIGRANTS

The regional court in the town of Karnobat, South-East Bulgaria, district of Bourgas, detained Erai Zinal who was caught at Trakia motorway while transporting 20 migrants from Iraq in a vehicle. The migrants were hidden between logs of wood, the court said on 25th of October.

Charges have been pressed against Zinal for illegally helping foreigners to cross into the country. For such offence, the law provides for 1 to 6 years of imprisonment and a fine from 5,000 to 20,000 BGN. From his criminal record, it becomes clear that Zinal was sentenced for the same type of offence before and the current offence was committed during the probation period of the previous one. The detained person is unemployed, without permanent income.
