On 1st of February, the Regional History Museum in Sofia will open an exhibition "Elegance and Beauty of the Past" where visitors will be able to see Bulgarian lace masterfully crafted over the past two centuries.
The exhibition is dedicated to the Bulgarian sewed lace which was part of the life of Bulgarians in the late 19th and early 20th century. Unique pinafores, shirts, sleeves and headscarves, aprons, tablecloths, linens, jewelry, even toys for Christmas tree were created with a needle, thread and lots of patience. These objects are part from the history of Sofia and the area around it, the regions of Kyustendil, Samokov, Ihtiman, Koprivshtitsa and Zlatitsa.

Visitors will have the opportunity to also enjoy lace created by the Armenian community in Sofia and by the two modern lace-making groups – “Sedyankata” and “Rabotilnitsa Sedyanka”.
The organizers say that there will be lace-making demonstrations and workshops will be opened for adults and children.
The exhibition will also feature an Armenian night, photo session, a round table dedicated to sewed lace with international participation and other pleasant activities.
The exhibition will run from Wednesday, 1st of February to Sunday, 30th of April, 2017.
