The Bulgarian mountaineer Boyan Petrov returned to Bulgaria on 31st of July after climbing Gasherbrum 2, the world’s 13th highest mountain, last week. This is the ninth eightthousander Petrov had climbed. He said that by the end of 2017, he would attempt one more peak from the Himalaya crown. The expedition will start at the end of August.
Boyan Petrov described the ascent of Gasherbrum 2 as his most emotional expedition. In 2009, he was only 40 meters away from the top.
Despite that Petrov suffered an injury in a serious car accident only 11 months ago, it did not affect him physically on the way to the mountain peak.
Within two days, it will become clear which will be the next eight-thousander that the Bulgarian mountaineer will try to conquer.
