The majority in Bulgaria’s Parliament rejected the demand of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP for Bulgaria) for the resignation of the Parliament Speaker, Dimitar Glavchev. On 1st of June, 118 MPs from GERB and United Patriots voted against the resignation. 114 MPs from BSP for Bulgaria, MRF and Volaya voted in favour.
The resignation of Dimitar Glavchev was requested by BSP on 31st of May because of “systematic exceeding of powers and systematic non-performance of duties”.
According to BSP leader Kornelia Ninova, Glavchev does not follow the rules of the Parliament, does not fulfil his duties and is a conductor of damaging words, division and scandals which the Parliamentary group of GERB imposes in the society.
Ninova also said that Parliament had not been working for six weeks now because the government and the ruling majority had no programme for governance and legislation.
