United Kingdom after the Brexit vote, the future of the Bulgarians living and working in the UK, the control of the European borders and security were among the highlights of the meeting between Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and his British counterpart, Boris Johnson on 24th of October, held in London.
Mitov and Johnson discussed the future of the UK after the Brexit referendum and the triggering of the procedure under Article 50. There will be further talks on the topic including the future of the Bulgarians who work and live in the UK, Mitov said.
Boris Johnson reaffirmed the commitment of the British government to participate in the increased presence of NATO's southeastern flank.
"And secondly - we rely on support when it comes to the security of the Bulgarian-Turkish border and to build capacity that would enable us to guard the border as good as possible and to fight against networks of human traffickers and of course, detention of persons illegally crossing the Bulgarian-Turkish border," Mitov said after the meeting.
Among the topics of conversation was the conflict in Syria and the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo. Mitov and Johnson emphasized the need for joint efforts by the countries of Europe to resolve the crisis and to maintain international humanitarian law.
