BULGARIA’S PARLIAMENT ADOPTED THE CHANGES TO THE ELECTORAL CODE AT SECOND READING
On 26th of October, 12 days before the Presidential elections, the Bulgarian MPs adopted the amendments to the Electoral Code concerning the number of polling stations in foreign countries and the counting of the vote option “I do not support anyone”....
On 26th of October, 12 days before the Presidential elections, the Bulgarian MPs adopted the amendments to the Electoral Code concerning the number of polling stations in foreign countries and the counting of the vote option “I do not support anyone”. Such votes should be counted as valid in the final results of the elections but only at majoritarian elections, such as parliamentary and mayoral. At general elections, elections for Members of European Parliament and municipal advisors, such votes will be counted as voter turnout.
The MPs voted to remove the limit of 35 polling stations for Bulgarian voters in countries from the European Union. The limit of 35 polling stations remains for non-EU countries.
The proposal for having more than one ballot box in the polling stations abroad was not approved.
