Bulgaria’s PM Borissov Opted for Connectivity of the Balkans at Trieste Summit

Connectivity between the countries of the Western Balkans aspiring to EU membership and the countries from the rest of the continent - this is what Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov focused on at the Trieste summit on 13 July.

According to Prime Minister Borissov, the Western Balkans should be supported to the highest degree on the North-South axis. He noted the importance of including Corridor No. 8 in the Berlin Process, connecting Sofia and Skopje with motorway and railway line.

The preparation of the Western Balkan countries for membership in the European Union will be one of the priorities of the Bulgarian government when it takes over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union at the beginning of next year, he said.

At a personal invitation by his Italian counterpart, Paolo Gentiloni, who hosted the event, the Bulgarian Prime Minister participated in a plenary dinner summarizing the discussions of the meeting discussions.
