BULGARIA’S PRERSIDENT RADEV IMPOSED VETO ON THE CONCESSION ACT

Bulgaria’s President Roumen Radev imposed a veto on the Law on Concessions. This was announced by him at an extraordinary briefing on 2nd of February.

Earlier, the trade union Podkrepa Confederation of Labour insisted on the veto. The position of the trade union was presented by its President, Dimitar Manolov, following talks between representatives of the trade union and the Head of State, held at the President’s office.

“We used the occasion to draw attention to the President on two issues - one of them is about the public interest related to the adoption of the law on concessions in a haste, in the last working days of the Parliament before it was dissolved,“ Manolov said after the meeting.

“Practically, there was no public debate on the draft law, which reinforced the concerns and doubts of the public, that there is something wrong with this law,” he added.
